SARS NOTICE OF NON-RESIDENT TAX STATUS LETTER PROCESS

Importantly, the SARS Notice of Non-Resident Tax Status Letter also indicates the effective date of this change, confirming that your tax residency in South Africa has ended.


In order to obtain the SARS Notice Of Non-Resident Tax Status Letter, taxpayers must comply with legal requirements in order to be considered non-residents for tax purposes, as well as complete the SARS verification process.


Upon completion, SARS will issue the confirmation letter.


Please be aware that as of April 24, 2023, the TCS PIN for Emigration (ETCC) and Foreign Investment Allowance (FIA) PIN have been replaced by the new Approval of International Transfers (AIT) PIN. Taxpayers who had previously completed the Financial Emigration process and obtained the TCS PIN for Emigration (ETCC) and the Foreign Investment Allowance (FIA) PIN are not considered non-residents by SARS.
